Nashik: The state government has decided to promote entrepreneurship among the Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST) categories in Maharashtra and has, in turn, come up with a scheme to provide financial aid to 30 such people towards their development.
The District Industries Centre (DIC) of Nashik has urged the SC/ST people to submit application forms for the purpose.
Financial assistance up to Rs 25 lakh is to be provided to these people, besides giving them marketing support.
As per the state government’s scheme, one person each from SC and ST communities in each tehsil will be given aid to become entrepreneurs. Accordingly, a total of 30 people from SC and ST categories from 15 tehsils of the district can avail of this opportunity.
Speaking to TOI, an official from DIC said, “A total 30 SC/ST people from 15 tehsils are to be developed as entrepreneurs during the current financial year 2016-17. A committee has been set up for the purpose which will select candidates from those who apply to DIC for the purpose.”
